In the 23rd league game of the season, Lech Poznań beat Lechia Gdańsk 2:0. Dusan Kuciak opened the scoresheet with an own goal, and Filip Marchwiński set the final score to 2:0. Following this match, Lech is ranked 5th in the league table.
Lech was in control of the game since the opening minutes. It took the hosts 16 minutes to create the first goal-scoring opportunity. Jóźwiak, Tiba, and Gytkjaer built the offensive attempt from scratch and the Portuguese player finished the attack with a shot on target that was stopped by Nalepa at the very last moment. In the 29th minute, the Danish striker attacked once again but this time the goalkeeper intervened perfectly, stopping Gytkjaer’s header from reaching the back of the net. Despite Lech’s indisputable domination, at halftime the scoreboard still showed a goalless draw.
The game made a 180-degree turn in the 51st minute when Fila received a second yellow and, therefore, a red card. Since then on, Lechia moved even deeper into defense, giving up any initiative. In the 62nd minute, Ramirez tried surprising Kuciak but Lechia’s defenders successfully blocked the shot. A moment later, the supporters from Gdansk started lighting up flares and throwing them at the home fans. The referee stopped the game and ordered the players to get off the pitch which resulted in a 15-minute break.
In the 81st minute, Lech finally got what they were after. Moder’s shot from outside the box hit the post and bounced off Kuciak’s back before rolling into the net. Lech wasn’t satisfied with a one-goal advantage and in the 90th minute Marchwiński set the final score to 2:0 with a beautiful shot right under the crossbar. The three points helped Lech advance to the fifth rank in the league table.
