Lech Poznań finishes the 2022/23 season on the podium of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. In the last league round, John van den Brom’s squad faced Jagiellonia Białystok at home. A confident, 2:0 win gave Lech a third spot.
Throughout the whole 90 minutes, Lech was the better side, and it was obvious that it was just a matter of time before the hosts scored. Half an hour into the match, Artur Sobiech added his name to the goal scorer’s list after converting Filip Dagerstal’s great pass into the first goal of the night.
In the second half, Lubomir Satka – for whom it was the last match at Lech Poznań – set the final score to 2:0. The defender was in the right time at the right place and tapped the ball into the back of Jagiellonia’s goal. Aside from the Slovakian player, two more footballers said goodbye to Lech on Saturday afternoon – Michał Skóraś and Pedro Rebocho. The trio received an emotional farewell from the 40-thousand crowd gathered at Bułgarska Street.
The match could have ended 3:0 but Kristoffer Velde failed to convert a penalty kick into the third goal.
As a result of the Saturday win, Lech finished this exhilarating, long (56 games!) season 3rd in the league.
