Lech Poznań is still struggling to get back on the winning track. The Saturday league match didn’t go according to plan – in the 7th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa, Lech drew 1:1 against Górnik Zabrze.
The first half could have turned out perfectly for the hosts – in the 2nd minute, Mikael Ishak came very close to scoring but Daniel Belica stopped the header at the last second.
Gradually, Lech found it harder to create goal-scoring opportunities since Górnik’s defensive line was positioned very deep, and practically all their players were involved in guarding the goal. Towards the end of the first half, the guests surprised Lech with a few offensive efforts, one of which gave them a penalty kick. Daisuke Yokota converted the set piece into a goal.
Lech’s offensive seemed to wake up in the second half, but it was only enough to get a draw. Dino Hotić who came in from the bench delivered a perfect cross into the box and Alan Czerwiński scored the equalizer with a header.
Unfortunately, the tie was an unsatisfactory score for the hosts. John van den Brom’s squad has two weeks to improve their form ahead of the next league clash. Following the international break, Lech is going to face Warta Poznań – the greens are going to be the hosts of the match, but the game will be played at Bułgarska Street.
