Lech is one step closer to the third qualification round of the Europa Conference League. On Thursday night, John van den Brom’s team defeated Kauno Žalgiris 3:1, earning a comfortable position ahead of the second leg.
Since the first whistle, everything seemed to be working out perfectly for the hosts. It didn’t take long for Lech to score the first goal. The team’s recent transfers - Elias Andersson and Dino Hotić – played a key role in Lech’s offensive attempt, with the latter being the author of a great header that hit the back of the net.
A few minutes later it was already 2:0 for the hosts. This time, Antonio Milić’s focus in the penalty area paid off as the defender redirected the ball into the goal. Before the referee announced halftime, Radosław Murawski changed the score to 3:0 with a beautiful shot from a distance.
Lech seemed to reduce the pace in the second half and Žalgiris managed to take advantage of that - Anton Fase’s impressive attempt from outside the box set the final score to 3:1.
The second leg, which will be played in Kauno, is scheduled for next Thursday, at 7 PM.
