Lech Poznań defeated Djurgårdens IF 3:0 in the second leg of the round of 16 and advanced to the UECL quarterfinals. Filip Marchwiński, Nika Kvekveskiri, and Michał Skóraś scored goals in the away match.
The pre-match interviews suggested that the hosts would put pressure on their Polish opponent from the first whistle. However, aside from Joel Asoro’s and Piotr Johansson’s goal-scoring chances, it was Lech who remained in control of the game. With every minute that passed, the Poles caused more problems for Djurgården’s defensive line. Shortly before halftime, Swedish defender Marcus Danielson lost the ball in the midfield to Afonso Sousa. The youngster ran towards Djurgården’s goal but was fouled by Danielson just outside the box and the referee was forced to show a red card.
John van den Brom’s squad came close to scoring at the beginning of the second half, but first Filip Szymczak’s attempt bounced off the crossbar, and then Radosław Murawski’s follow-up shot stopped on the post. In the 65th minute, Pedro Rebocho set up Michał Skóraś with a good pass, but Djurgården’s goalkeeper intervened perfectly. Finally, in the last 15 minutes of the game, Lech started scoring. First, Rebocho sent a great pass to Filip Marchwiński and the striker beat the Swedish keeper with a flat, precise shot. Then, in the added time, Nika Kvekveskiri and Skóraś added a goal each and set the aggregate score to 5:0 for Lech.
