Darko Jevtić is close to full recovery. The Swiss player began training on the pitch this week and even though he is still practicing individually, he was allowed to join the team for a short while.
The 24-year-old was injured in the second leg against FK Haugesund. The medical examination revealed that the player’s syndesmosis was partially damaged. “The player started individual training sessions soon afterward in order to return to the pitch as soon as possible,” explained Lech’s fitness coach Dr. Martin Mayer who admits his happiness with the player’s progress.
During the past weeks Jevtić often trained at the gym in order to strengthen his lower body parts. The injury didn’t stop him from practicing a couple of everyday exercises. For around two weeks the Swiss player had his leg splint and the moment the orthosis was removed, he focused on the injured leg during the training sessions.
Last week the player received a green light to train with the rest of the team. However, he cannot participate in the training sessions with full intensity. “We want him to return to everyday training slowly. He can warm up with his teammates. He also practices on a stationary bike and in a couple of days he will start running. We prepared a few exercises which are meant to quicken his recovery,” emphasized the coach.
In a month’s time Jevtić is expected to train with the team normally. However, no one can say precisely when it will happen. “If everything goes according to plan, in 2 weeks he might start kicking the ball. Nonetheless, it’s really hard to say,” explained Mayer.
So far this season Jevtić played in 4 matches, scored 3 goals and added an assist to his account. In total, he spent 236 minutes on the pitch.
