Lech’s footballers have an intense month ahead of them before they leave for the winter holidays. The upcoming 6 clashes are not going to be easy, since the team from Poznan will face the top teams in the league table.
“Before the national teams’ groupings we won a crucial clash with Ruch,” said Darko Jevtic, Lech’s midfielder. “The match brought us back into the top of the league table, but we still have 8 points less than the leader, and 8 points is not a small number. We know we are capable of catching up and that is what we focus on. There is still a month to go before the winter break begins and we ought to give everything we have,” explained the footballer.
The first opportunity for Lech to climb up the league rank is the league clash with Slask Wroclaw. Afterwards, the team from Poznan is going to face Zaglebie Lubin and Jagiellonia Bialystok, both of which are placed higher in the league than Lech. “These matches are important and equally difficult. Our aim is to collect points so that we stay within the reach of the podium. However, we cannot dismiss Slask. The team is 2 points away from us and if they win, they will leave us behind in the Ekstraklasa rank. On Sunday we have to collect points and make a step closer to the podium,” emphasized Jevtic.
The footballer believes that the recent results have initiated a good period for Lech. “We have played well recently. However, we need to be consistent and keep on winning. We cannot look forward to the tough game with Zaglebie, because if we do not win with Slask, our situation will worsen again. Therefore, we concentrate on Slask now, and then our attention is going to shift to other rivals,” said the Swiss player.
In the last league match Jevtic was placed on the left wing and as a result he scored the opening goal. “I often play on either side of the midfield. That allows me to clash one-on-one with the defending players and cut into the middle of the pitch. I want to keep on developing and fulfilling the coach’s tasks. I know I have the skills to succeed, similarly to every footballer in the squad,” said Jevtic.
