“It is hard for me to discuss our current rank in the table, because I never look at it. What matters to me is the next game only, and now we are about to face Slask Wroclaw,” said Maciej Wilusz, Lech’s defender.
After 15 matches Lech is 2 points away from Ekstraklasa’s podium. So far the team from Poznan collected 22 points and Zaglebie Lubin, which is currently placed 3, has 24 points. The two teams are going to face each other in the 17th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa. Meanwhile, the leader, Jagiellonia Bialystok, has 8 points more than Lech. To see the team from Poznan clash with Ekstraklasa’s leader, we will have to wait until December.
“The only way for us to climb up the league rank is to improve our game, not to analyse the table. Therefore, we focus on improvement. I have learned that there is no point in looking at the rank we are occupying. The table is dynamic and we are in the middle of the main phase, which leaves us a lot more games to play. We want to win every one of the upcoming clashes. Then the time will come for us to analyse how far we’ve come,” explained Wilusz.
This season the Ekstraklasa table is changing rapidly. Not long ago Slask Wroclaw was the last team in the league, while now the club is ranked 8th. “We are aware of the small differences in between the ranks and the rotations in the table which take place every round. That is why we have to focus on our matches only and make sure we collect as many points as it's possible. We won the two recent clashes which is a reason to rejoice. I hope that the next games will be equally successful for us,” highlighted the defender.
The last league win saw the players from Poznan collect three points for the second time in a row. It was the first time Lech had such a successful run since Bjelica took over the team. “We are a strong team and successful series shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Our goal is to win every game. We have been getting along with the coach very well so far, which is visible on the pitch. Our play is improving. I am sure that it will eventually result in many won matches,” said Wilusz.
