A confident 3:0 win in Stockholm against Hammarby IF guaranteed Lech a spot in the third round of Europa League qualifiers.
The opening minutes of the match held at Tele2 Arena didn’t forecast an easy game for the Polish club as the hosts created two good goal-scoring opportunities. However, fortunately for Lech, Bednarek’s good disposition that night stopped the team from Poznań from conceding a goal.
Meanwhile, Hammarby’s defender Björklund couldn’t describe his Wednesday performance as a good one. Shortly after halftime, the Swedish player lost the ball to Tiba very close to Hammarby’s penalty area. The Portuguese midfielder effortlessly beat the goalkeeper with a gentle lob and changed the score to 1:0.
The situation got even worse for the hosts when Andersen received a second yellow, and as a result, a red card for a dangerous foul. With one less rival to stop them, Lech gained full control of the match and added two more goals to their account. First, Kamiński found the back of the net with a clever shot from outside the box into the bottom corner and then his Academy teammate, Marchwiński, set the final score to 3:0 with a beautiful shot under the crossbar.
