Lech’s fans were thrilled with the squad for the recent clash with Legia – finally, Gytkjaer returned to match 18 after being left out for the Polish Cup game against Stal Mielec.
Last week, Lech’s top striker was fighting a relatively small injury which meant that he wasn’t going to be a part of the match squad for the Polish Cup clash. However, the 30-year-old is now ready to play again. “I feel very well. There is no sign of the injury, I train at full capacity and I don’t have any issues. Now I am looking forward to the Saturday match against Zagłębie,” said Gytkjaer.
On the topic of the upcoming league game, Lech ought to make it up to their fans after being beaten by Legia Warsaw. The Danish striker emphasised that everyone at the club wants to rebuild their morals after the unsuccessful match.
“I believe that the Saturday league clash will be a great opportunity for us to bounce back after last weekend. The goal is to get resume the winning streak. There are plenty of games to good and I am hoping that a lot of positive things are going to happen in the next few weeks. I also know that I still need to score a few goals by the end of the season,” highlighted Dane.
Apart from helping his team finish the season in the best possible way, Gytkjaer had one more objective to achieve – become the top goal scorer. Currently, the Dane is positioned at the top of the ranking and is considered a favourite in the race. “I think that all strikers have that personal goal to become the top scorer; it’s a great feeling. I am doing my best to score as many goals as possible, however, what really matters is that those goals help Lech win. We still have a lot left to accomplish this season – we advanced to the semifinals of the Polish Cup and the league isn’t over yet. The objective is to make the most out of the remaining league matches,” explained Gytkjaer.
