In the 11th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan won with Gornik Leczna 2:1. The team from Poznan was losing one-nil at halftime, but Gajos and Makuszewski turned the score back around.
Quite unexpectedly the hosts were the ones who attacked first. This style of play quickly resulted in a number of scoring chances. In the 11th minute Gerson converted Leandro’s shot into a header, but Putnocky intervened well. 2 minutes later the goalkeeper was left helpless when Grzelczak put the ball in the net from a close distance.
The team from Poznan concentrated on turning the score around and they had a number of opportunities to do so. Shortly after conceding the goal, Jevtic and Makuszewski built a good scoring chance which ended with the latter hitting the post. 3 minutes later the Swiss player spotted Kedziora, the defender crossed the ball into the box and Robak finished off the action with a shot not on target.
Jevtic was undoubtedly the source of power for the team from Poznan. The Swiss footballer, apart from playmaking, attempted to shoot a couple of times. One of his shots turned out to be very problematic for the goalkeeper, but did not result in an equalizer. A moment later Gornik had another goal-scoring opportunity. Grzelczak passed Lech’s defence line, passed the goalkeeper and was left with an empty goal to shoot on, but instead of scoring, he sent the ball flying above the crossbar.
Lech had nothing to lose, thus after halftime the team from Poznan started pressing on the rival even more intensively. In the 49th minute Pawlowski fired a strong shot at the goal, but Prusak intervened at the last moment. Kedziora, Makuszewski and Gajos were looking for an equalizer as well, but neither of them succeeded, despite coming very close.
Lech had to remain very catious since Gornik counterattacked once in a while, but luckily for the team from Poznan, Bonin’s and Javi Hernandez’s attempts weren’t on target. Meanwhile, Lech finally scored the equalizer. In the 71st minute Gajos, who just came on the pitch, received a good cross from Pawlowski and headed the ball into the back of the net. In the injury time the team from Poznan scored the winner. Kedziora found an empty space, Makuszewski took over the ball, lobbed the goalkeeper and scored the goal worth three, important points. Shortly before the final whistle Majewski came one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the match eventually ended with a two-one win for Lech.
