Lech Poznań beat FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova 5:0 in the third sparring match of the pre-season. De Marco, Jevtic, Gajos, and Makuszewski (twice) scored the goals against the Slovakian team.
During the first part of the match, most of the action took place in the midfield. Lech gradually moved up the pitch, but it was the Slovakian team that built a scoring chance first. Janicki made a mistake in the 7th minute and Wiezik recovered the ball, ran past Buric, and fired a shot off target. Zeleziarne Podbrezova looked for more goal-scoring opportunities but it didn’t take long for Lech to regain control of the game.
The hosts had another chance to take the lead shortly afterward. The team from Slovakia recovered the ball near the halfline and Lesko fired a shot at Lech’s goal but it didn’t cause problems to the defensive line from Poznan. Nicolas attempted to surprise Buric a minute later and although his attempt was the first one on target, Lech’s keeper stopped the shot effortlessly. Jevtic quickly replied with an attempt from outside the box but the ball flew above the crossbar.
30 minutes into the match, Jevtic sent a long, parallel ball to Gytkjaer. The striker left Drobnjak behind, however, he was successfully stopped by one of Zeleziarne defenders. As a result, Lech was given a corner kick that Jevtic converted into a great, precise cross, and De Marco placed the ball in the back of the net with a header. Shortly afterward, Jevtic scored himself after receiving a good pass from Gajos. In the 43rd minute, Radut placed the ball in the net but his attempt was disallowed due to an offside.
Lech played well in the opening minutes of the second half. Within a couple of minutes, the team from Poznan was attacking with full force. Tomasik was blocked by the defenders from Slovakia before he could fire a shot while Jevtic’s attempt was stopped by the keeper but not without problems.
Zeleziarne forced Buric to intervene again in the 60th minute and the goalkeeper stopped the ball confidently. A moment later, Orlowski saved Lech from conceding the ball after the team from Poznan initiated a counterattack and Tiba, Lech’s most recent transfer, lost the ball.
In the 65th minute, the score changed to 3:0. Makuszewski was the goal scorer whilst Jóżwiak was the author of the last pass. It didn’t take long for Lech to add another goal; this time it was Gajos who beat the keeper from Slovakia with a shot from outside the box. The Polish team dominated the game and set the final score to 5:0, following a second goal from Makuszewski who beat the keeper and placed the ball in an open net.
Lech remained in control of the play until the final whistle but they failed to add another goal to their account. The last sparring match of the pre-season, against AEK Larnaka, is scheduled for Saturday.
