Lech Poznań players will return to training on December 12th. That’s when the senior squad will also welcome five Academy players, some of whom will travel with the first team to Dubai.
Coach John van den Brom and his staff have decided to invite five youngsters from Lech’s Academy for the upcoming training sessions - goalkeeper Mateusz Pruchniewski, defenders Patryk Olejnik and Bartosz Tomaszewski, midfielder Maksymilian Dziuba, and forward Oskar Tomczyk. For all of these youth players, being invited to the senior team’s practice sessions is a reward for their hard work in the past months and a first step towards becoming permanent members of the first team.
One of the mentioned players has already worked alongside his senior teammates. The 16-year-old Olejnik, in the first half of 2022, not only trained together with Maciej Skorża’s squad but also received a chance to play in a friendly game with Warta Poznań (3:3). In addition, in the summer he received a call-up for the first team’s training camp in Opalenica. This autumn, Olejnik has made multiple appearances in the junior teams as well as the reserves where he played in a total of 8 matches (648 minutes) and scored 1 goal.
His teammate Tomaszewski has similarly impressive statistics – 7 games, 630 minutes, and 1 goal. Dziuba also made 7 appearances but collected only 200 minutes so far. Meanwhile, Tomczyk has recently made a debut on the central league level, whereas Pruchniewski is still awaiting his first match. Now the 5 players will have a chance to show their skills to the senior team coaching staff before van den Brom and his assistant decide which of them get to travel to Dubai (January 4-14) with the first squad.
