Last weekend, Lech was beaten in a league game for the first time this year. The loss against Lechia Gdańsk (0:1) cost the team from Poznań their position at the top of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table. However, with 12 league rounds to go, Lech still has time to take over the position of the leader and celebrate a long-awaited Championship title.
Since the fourth round of the 2021/2022 PKO BP Ekstraklasa season, Lech Poznań has been at the top of the league table. In the next few weeks, the team from Poznań will play decisive matches against key opponents, among them Pogoń Szczecin and Raków Częstochowa, the former being the current league of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. In addition, Lech will have to face clubs from the top 8; a majority of those games will be home clashes which is good news for the Poznań fans as their team has yet to be beaten when playing at Bułgarska street.
The schedule of Lech's main rival - Pogoń Szczecin - looks slightly different. The seaside team has begun 2022 with wins against lower-ranked teams. In the next few weeks, they will have a few challenges to overcome, among them matches against Raków Częstochowa and Lechia Gdańsk. Meanwhile, Raków - who is ranked 3rd in the league table - is going to play against Lech on the last Sunday of February, and then, towards the end of the season, Papszun's team will face Cracovia, Zagłębie Lubin, and Lechia Gdańsk.
