Lech Poznan was beaten by FC Etar Veliko Tarnovo (1:3) in the first training match played in Turkey.
At 3:30 pm (Polish time), Lech’s first training match in Belek began. Their Bulgarian opponent quickly approached Lech’s penalty area and converted the first scoring opportunity into a goal. Batrović raced down the left flank and beat Putnocky with a shot towards the further corner. A couple of minutes later, Lech was given a corner kick with resulted in a scoring chance, but De Marco’s attempt was off target.
For the next 10 minutes, most of the match revolved around the midfield as the two teams struggled to take control of the ball. Meanwhile, Jevtic’s attempt from a free kick was inaccurate, whilst in the next offensive attack Makuszewski waited too long before firing a shot and the ball was taken away from him.
In the 30th minute, Jozwiak spotted Jevtic in the penalty box and the latter fired a shot, however, Etar’s keeper stopped the ball in time. 10 minutes later, the Bulgarian team scored once again. This time it was Angelov who raced into the box and despite the intervention of defenders, he put the ball in the back of the net effortlessly.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Lech got an opportunity to score when Tomczyk received a long precise pass, but he failed to control the ball. For a short period of time, the two teams once again struggled to take possession of the ball and most of the play took place in the midfield. Lech was given a free kick, but Tomasik’s attempt was redirected and Gajos’s shot was blocked. FC Etar replied with Petkov’s attempt that stopped on the post.
In the 74th minute, the Bulgarians scored the third goal thanks to Mladenov’s beautiful shot from outside the box. Shortly afterwards, Lech got a perfect chance to place the ball in the back of the net but Kaminski’s attempt from afar was just slightly off target. The same player had another goal-scoring opportunity a moment later, but once more, he failed to put the ball in the net. In the closing minutes of the match, FC Etar’s defensive line made an error which resulted in Marchwinski recovering the ball and scoring the only goal for Lech Poznan.
