It is the fifth consecutive league loss of the current Polish Champions. This time is was Cracovia that beat Lech Poznan 2:0 - a result that eliminated Lech from the international arena in the upcoming season.
Cracovia's domination was indisputable since the opening minutes as the players from Cracow not only were in possession of the ball most of the time, but also were courageous in their offensive actions. Cetnarski's cross from a free kick was a first warning for Lech Poznan, because if it wasn't for the last minute block, Covilo might have headed the ball into the net. Nevertheless, the 14th minute no one from Lech’s defense managed to save his team from conceding a goal. Volkov lost the ball in the midfield and Jendrisek converted the chance into his 13th goal this season.
The conceded goal was a wakeup call for the guests. In the 17th minute Lech finally built a goal-scoring opportunity when Lovrencsics found himself one-against-one with the goalkeeper. Nonetheless, the Hungarian's shot was easily stopped by the goalkeeper who was forced to intervene again a minute later when Linetty fired a shot at the goal from outside the penalty area. Once more the goalkeeper was successful. In the 36th minute Lech was awarded a free kick which ended with Jevtic trying to place the ball in the back of the net, but the Swiss was blocked at the right moment.
Lech had to remain careful in case of Cracovia's lethal counterattacks, especially that the team from Cracow had the league podium at stake. In the 39th minute the hosts led a dangerous offensive which was finished off by Jendrisek, but his shot was not on target. Nevertheless, Lech's goalkeeper was beaten a few minutes later. Budzinski decided to fire a shot from outside of the penalty area and since the attempt was accurate and precise, Buric was helpless and the ball fell into the back of the net.
When the referee resumed the play, Marcin Robak, who has been recovering from an injury for the past long months, appeared on the pitch. The forward and his team were desperate to catch up with their rivals and had a couple of opportunities to do so, but the lack of efficiency and precision haunted the team form Poznan. In the 50th minute Gajos hit the post, while 8 minutes later Linetty did the same. Tetteh had a great goal-scoring opportunity too, but he failed to direct the ball into the net from a very close distance.
Cracovia attacked once in a while as well. Covilo could have scored an impresing goal from a free kick, but he missed the post by centimeters. In the 68th minute the guests could have scored again, but similarly to the previous chances, the post stopped the ball from rolling across the goal line.
Despite the passing minute, Lech remained determined to score. In the 82nd minute Robak's header caused problems to Sandomierski, but the goalkeeper managed to stop the ball. Thus in spite of all efforts, when the referee called for finish time, Lech had no goals scored on its account and had to accept yet another loss in a league match.
