Counting on the strikers

Nicki Bille played in 12 matches last season and scored three goals. Marcin Robak played 13 times and scored twice. Meanwhile, Dawid Kownacki beats them all with 34 games on his account and 7 balls placed in the back of the net.

One of the biggest sources of problems last season was the number of injuries that the forwards suffered, which disabled them from showing their potential and skills. "When it comes to forwards I am hoping to have them healthy and fit to work with me. During this season we will have weekly micro cycles and that is going to improve the quality of the work we do," explained Jan Urban.

In the game of the season Nicki Bille was placed on the top of Lech's formation. "Shortly after Nicki joined our squad he suffered an injury and missed 4 matches and then a few at the end of the season. Therefore, we cannot evaluate him justly. On one hand we used to say he wasn’t prepared well enough, but on the other the Dane had an injury. Bille began the season with a blank slate and he is now working hard to build the trust of the fans," said the coach.

At halftime of the Super Cup final Nicki Bille was replaced by Marcin Robak. Both were also a part of the starting lineup in the first league clash. "Marcin has a lot to show us. He was unable to do that before because of the injuries. However, his ambition shall make him determined to prove that he is capable of scoring the way he did at Pogon Szczecin," highlighted Jan Urban.

The coach also counts on Dawid Kownacki. "He was out for a month in spring, which is a relatively long period. When you are out for so long, it takes time for you to get back in form. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with Dawid's work. He scored 6 goals in the league, just as many as Szymon Pawlowski," said the coach, emphasizing the hope he puts in his strikers this season.
