Mikael Ishak has not only recently become the best foreign goal scorer in Lech’s history, but he is now also ranked among the top 10 most efficient strikers in the history of the Ekstraklasa. However, to keep his seat in this elite group, Mikael Ishak needs to stay cautious as some of the other top 10 players are still competing in the Polish top division.
Last Saturday, the 31-year-old Swede scored the only goal in the away clash with Puszcza Niepołomice (1:2). He has already found the back of the net 66 times for Lech in all competition which makes him the best foreign goal scorer in the club’s history. In the overall classification of strikers, Ishak is currently ranked 7th but he has a high chance of jumping to the 5th spot this season.
Moreover, our captain is also one of the best foreigners to have ever played on the Polish pitches. Recently, Ishak made it to the league’s all-time TOP 10 best foreign goal scorers. At the moment, Flavio Paixao is at the top of the rank – over the 10 years that he played for Śląsk Wrocław and Lechia Gdańsk, the Portuguese striker accumulated 108 goals. He is also the only foreigner to have scored over 100 goals on the Polish fields.
Jesus Imaz – who is currently representing Jagiellonia Białystok but used to play for Wisła Cracow – is ranked 2nd in the classification of foreign strikers with 78 goals in his account. Meanwhile, the Serbian forward Miroslav Radovic is third with 66 goals which he scored throughout the 13 years that he played for Legia Warsaw. Ishak is ranked tenth exequo with Tomas Pekhart (Legia Warsaw) – both players have 49 league goals in their account. Interestingly, the Swede is yet to surpass Christian Gytkjaer, Lech's ex-player, in this category - the Dane has found the back of the net in the league more times (55), than Ishak.
Good disposition in the last few league rounds of the season might enable the Swede to move up the rank. However, he needs to stay cautious not to be relegated from the TOP 10 by Pekhart, whilst trying to surpass the likes of Erik Exposito (51), Robert Pich (52), and Kasper Hämäläinen (54).
