Lech’s series of league wins continues. In the 4th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa, the team from Poznań beat Termalica Bruk-Bet Nieciecza 3:1. As a result of their third triumph in a row, Lech is now occupying the top spot in the league table.
The beginning of the Friday match was exhilarating, to say the least, and the fans from Poznań had plenty of reasons to rejoice - within 4 minutes, Lech was already winning 2:0. First, Barry Douglas scored a beautiful goal from a free-kick, and then, a minute later, Joao Amaral took advantage of the goalkeeper’s mistake, intercepted a pass, and beat the keeper with a precise shot.
The hosts had nothing to lose, hence they focused solely on the offensive. Meanwhile, Lech slowed down the pace and concentrated on guarding their goal. They did so well until the 42nd minute when Mikael Ishak fouled one of Termalica’s players in the penalty area. The hosts were given a penalty kick which Piotr Wlazło converted into a goal.
The goal gave Termalica hope that they could still turn around the score – which they tried to do throughout the whole second half – but Lech managed to seal the victory with a 3rd goal in the 81st minute. The team from Poznań perfectly executed a corner kick and Mikael Ishak converted Antonio Milić’s pass into the last goal of the match with his head.
The win helped Lech remain the leader in the table. The next league game is scheduled for Sunday – that’s when the team from Poznań will face Lechia Gdańsk at home (5:30 pm).
