Lech Poznan beat Termalica Bruk-Bet Nieciecza 3:1 in the 6th league match of the season. Gytkjaer, Majewski and Putiwcew (own goal) scored for Lech. The win helped Lech jump on the podium of Ekstraklasa.
Lech Poznan was in control of the match since the very beginning. The guests were in possession of the ball for the majority of the time, but they struggled to beat Termalica’s defense line. Majewski was the first one who got a chance to surprise the hosts’ keeper. In the 13th minute the midfielder was left unmarked in the box, but his shot turned out to be slightly off target. Termalica responded in the 26th minute when Piatek crossed the ball into Lech’s penalty area. None of his teammates managed to touch the ball and the cross turned into a shot that Putnocky had to save at the last moment.
In the meantime Tralka was forced to leave the pitch when he suffered an injury. The midfielder was replaced by Tetteh who was finally able to play after a 3-match pause caused by a red card. Termalica’s defender Kecskes had to be taken off the pitch too. The player clashed with Kostevych in the air and even though he tried to remain on the pitch, he was eventually replaced by a defensive midfielder Kupczak.
Lech tested Kupczak numerous times, knowing that he’s not a real centre-back. The players from Poznan frequently passed to Gytkjaer until the forward finally managed to place the ball in the back of the net. Makuszewski sent the ball to Gumny and the defender raced into the box and passed to Gytkjaer. The Dane fired a shot from a short distance and beat Mucha. The players from Nieciecza had a chance to equalize in the closing minutes of the first half, but Spiaczka’s shot stopped on the post.
Rumak’s players returned to the pitch after the break clearly determined to equalize as quickly as possible. The hosts regained control over the match and looked for ways to surprise Putnocky. However, Lech had better scoring chances than its rival. In the 51st minute Majewski’s shot from outside the box was stopped by the keeper. 4 minutes later the midfielder sent a well-timed pass to Situm who was entering Termalica’s penalty area. However, the Croatian’s shot was slightly off target.
Lech finally succeeded and scored the second goal. Makuszewski crossed the ball into the box from the right flank. Nicki Bille was already waiting in the penalty area, but it was Putiwcew that placed the ball in his own net. The defender clearly wanted to stop the pass, but he redirected it past his goalkeeper and into the goal. In the 72nd minute Lech could have added another goal, but Majewski failed to reach the ball sent by Makuszewski. Even though Lech controlled the match, Termalica was restless in its goal attempts. In the 75th minute Slaby received a good pass from one of his teammates, but his shot was off target.
Shortly afterwards Lech responded with a shot from Nicki Bille and one from Majewski, but both players waited too long and their attempts were blocked. However, Termalica had a bit more luck when Mikovic’s shot from outside the box hit one of Lech’s defenders and fell into the back of the net. Termalica now had a chance to draw and collect an important point. However, 3 minutes later Lech set the final score to 3:1 after Majewski converted Barkroth’s pass into a goal.
