In the 6th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa Lech drew the clash with Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza 0:0. It is the first tie in the history of the matches between the two clubs.
The hosts were more impressive in the opening minutes. Early in the 2nd minute the team from Nieciecza was awarded a free kick that Misak converted into a shot which flew not far above the crossbar. The hosts also sent a couple of good crosses into Lech’s penalty area, but the defenders from Poznan stopped all the balls in time.
Meanwhile, Lech seemed to have problems creating goal-scoring opportunities. The hosts kept the formation and their defense line was solid enough to keep Lech’s players away from their penalty area. The team from Poznan was in possession of the ball for the majority of time, but most of their actions were built on their own half of the pitch. However, in the 27th minute Lech finally fired the first shot at the goal. Nevertheless, Pawlowski’s attempt wasn’t on target.
But when Lech finally focused on the offensive, they caused problems to Termalica. In the 33rd minute Tralka found space and passed to Kedziora, the latter left the ball for Majewski who came close to scoring, but was blocked at the last moment. A few minutes later the goalkeeper had to intervene when Majewski sent a cross into the penalty area that flew near the crossbar. Kedziora and Pawlowski had their chances to score too, but in both situations Pilarz did not let the ball pass him.
After the halftime Lech remained in possession of the ball, but it took them about 15 minutes to finally build a good goal-scoring opportunity. Meanwhile, in the 58th minute Termalica could have scored a goal when Kedziora found some space to shoot, but was eventually blocked by Lech’s defender. Majewski attempted a similar find on the other end of the pitch, but he was blocked too, proving how well the two teams performed in the defense.
In the 65th minute Lech was in trouble, when Misak was left unmarked and decided to fire a shot that flew a few centimeters above the crossbar. However, Lech had even better chances to score. For instance, in the 69th minute Formella received the ball on the right flank and sent it to Majewski, who was left unmarked. The latter’s flat shot was on target, but the goalkeeper stopped the ball from rolling into the net.
Lech had a few good goal-scoring opportunities in the closing minutes and if not the lack of efficiency and precision, they would have won the match. In the 80th minute Pawlowski’s shot stopped on the post. 5 minutes later the same player was slightly slower than the hosts’ goalkeeper. In the injury time Lech managed to counterattack once, but once again the defensive line from Nieciecza made no mistake.
