On Thursday evening, Miha Blažič signed a two-year deal with Lech Poznań. The defender’s contract will last until June 30th, 2025.
Blažič arrived in Poznań on Wednesday afternoon and he had been undergoing medical tests since Thursday morning. Since the player was given a green light by the doctors, that same day in the evening, he signed a two-year contract with Lech.
“Miha is meant to reinforce our defence. We have a long season ahead of us, plenty of matches to play. He is an experienced footballer with many appearances in the national team and European competitions. In the past, he competed for clubs such as Ferencvárosi. We have signed Miha from the French league,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa. “We are happy about the transfer and we are hoping for great performances [from Blažič],” added Rząsa.
Last season, Blažič was playing for the French club Angers SCO which has just been relegated. In the recent campaign, Blažič made 24 appearances on the French pitches and scored two goals (against RC Strasbourg and RC Lens). In addition, he also played twice in the French Cup and even scored against FCOSK 06.
So far in his career, the Slovenian defender got the most caps at the Hungarian club Ferencvárosi TC. Back then, he competed in the Champions League, against the likes of FC Barcelona, Juventus, and Dinamo Kyiv, and the Europa League where he faced, among other teams, Real Betis, Bayer Leverkusen, and Celtic Glasgow. Moreover, Blažič also represent regularly the Slovenian national team – he already has 25 caps and got to play in Nations League games, as well as Euro and World Cup qualifiers.
“For me, Lech is the most important Polish club, with outstanding supporters. I watched Lech last season when they played in the European competition and the previous season when they won the Polish Championship. It’s a big step in my career and I am glad to be here,” highlighted Lech’s new player. “The people, the city, everything that happens here – I have had positive experiences only ever since I arrived,” added Blažič.
After passing the medical tests, Blažič travelled to the Research & Development Centre in Wronki where he signed the contract and then joined his new squad.
