On Monday morning, Barański underwent medical tests and in the evening, he finalised all of the formalities.

“We signed a 4.5-year contract valid until June 30th, 2029. Despite it being a permanent transfer, Bartek will spend the upcoming 6 months at Ruch Chorzów, on loan, before joining us in the summer. Bartek spent two years training at our Academy. However, he took his first steps in professional football at Ruch and we want him to continue doing so for the next few months and to gain crucial experience at a team that’s hoping to advance to Ekstraklasa,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.

In October last year, Barański turned 18. He was born in Katowice and began his adventure in football at the local club GKS before joining Lech’s Academy in the summer of 2020. After two years, he decided to move closer to home, hence his transfer to Ruch. The young midfielder made his debut in the second tier in August 2022, against ŁKS Łódź, at the age of 15. In the following season, he played in 7 top-division games and even scored one goal, against Radomiak (2:0). In the current season, he has been a starting line-up player for Ruch Chorzów. He has 14 appearances and 5 goals in his account so far.

Sporting Director Tomasz Rząsa, when asked to describe Lech’s latest signing, said, “Bartek’s technically very good, he uses both his right and his left foot. He is good at playing in small spaces and adapts well to combinational play. What’s most important is that he has great motor skills and can work at high intensity. Hence, we count on him adapting well to our team.”

“Joining Lech makes me feel excited and eager to work. I am happy that Kolejorz returned for me after such a long time and I will definitely give my all. I have good memories from my time at the Academy – I spent two years there, in the U-15 to U-17 teams. It was a very good period for me; then I moved to Ruch. With every next month, I made new progress,” explained Bartłomiej Barański.
