Lech Poznan was beaten by Arka Gdynia (0:1) in the 9th league match of the season.
For the first quarter, the two teams fought for the ball in the midfield and struggled to approach the rival’s penalty box. Djurdjevic’s players were the first ones to build a scoring chance when Amaral raced down the flank and sent a cross into the box where Jozwiak was waiting. However, the young midfielder mishit the ball. Shortly afterward, Tomczyk was left one-on-one with the keeper but this time the goalkeeper intervened perfectly.
For the next period of time, Lech pushed Arka deeper and attacked intensively. Amaral had the best scoring chance when he was left unmarked outside of the box, but his shot was stopped by Arka’s keeper. The two teams had a problem remaining in possession of the ball for a longer time thus they rarely built dangerous goal-scoring opportunity. Arka came relatively close to taking the lead towards the end of the first half but Jankowski’s attempt was off target.
Lech responded with Kostevych’s shot from an acute angle, but the ball missed the post by centimeters. Shortly before halftime, Arka led a counterattack that could have ended with a goal, but Kostevych returned to defense in time and stopped the ball from rolling into the back of the net. The referee ended the first half soon afterward.
Lech dominated the opening minutes of the second half but that did not result in goals for the team from Poznan. After a rather dull period of the match, Gajos surprised Arka with a shot from outside the box that was, once more, successfully stopped by the goalkeeper. A moment later, Lech led a counterattack that was finished off by Gytkjaer with a shot off target.
In the 76th minute, Arka took the lead after Janota received a perfect pass from Zarandia and sent the ball flying into the net from a short distance. It could have been 2:0 very shortly afterward, but Janota’s second attempt was saved by Putnocky. Lech responded with Amaral’s shot from outside the box, but once more the attempt lacked precision. In the 90th minute, the team from Poznan managed to score an equalizer, however, the referee spotted Tralka’s foul and took the goal away. Lech was determined to equalize and win at least a point, but they failed to do and were once more beaten.
