Paulus Arajuuri is out for a yet unknown period of time. The Finnish defender was taken off the pitch at halftime on Friday due to a hip injury.
Arajuuri’s shot from the 5th minute put Lech on the lead against Zaglebie Lubin. However, the defender was forced to leave the pitch at the end of the first half. Lasse Nielsen replaced the Finnish footballer and finally got a chance to play after a four-match break. “Earlier in the season Paulus had a break from playing because he overstrained the hip,” explained Dr. Pawel Cybulski, the club medic.
Lech’s footballers have little time to rest and regenerate. On Tuesday the footballers will travel to Cracow where they will face Wisla in the second leg of the Polish Cup quarterfinal. As for now, the training staff doesn’t know whether Arajuuri is going to travel with the rest of the squad. “Only after additional tests will we know how serious the injury is,” said the club’s doctor.
So far Arajuuri played in 11 matches this season. During two of those games, the defender was substituted before final time. In the July clash with Zaglebie Arajuuri had to leave the pitch in the first half because he had a cut right above the zygomatic arch. Meanwhile, in September the player was announced as a part of the starting lineup, but he reported having groin pain during the pre-match warm up.
