Another rival left behind. Lechia - Lech 0:1

Lech Poznan won with Lech Gdansk 1:0 and took another step up the league table. The Polish Champion is now placed eleventh.

In the opening minutes Lechia was the team that had more goal-scoring opportunities. For the first 10 minutes Lech had to defend, but they did it well. However, during one of the hosts' offensive actions Arajuuri made a mistake and fouled Mila in the penalty area. Kuswik was the one that was meant to convert the penalty kick into a goal, but he failed to do so since his shot wasn't on target and the ball stopped on the crossbar.

The hosts weren't bothered by the wasted chance and kept on attacking. The offensive actions did not cause much problems to Lech, while the guests counterattacks werent too difficult to stop for Lechia either. Just one of those counterattack ended with a goal, but Gajos attempt was blocked nonetheless. In the 33rd minute Lechia's offensive action was closed with Peszko's strong shot, however Lech's ex-player did not manage to beat Buric.

In the second half the game looked similar. There was a lot of inaccuracy on the pitch and most of the play took place in the midfield. All that changed in the 64th minute when Pawlowski sent a well-time, precise cross into the penalty area and Hamalainen redirected the ball into the net with a soft shot. Lechia was very determined to equalize, but the guests seemed to be closer to scoring another goal. In the 71st minute Kownacki, who had just entered the pitch, sent a great pass to Pawlowski, but the latter's shot was slightly not on target. A few minutes later the other side had a chance of their own, but Makuszewski's shot stopped on the crossbar. The same player fired another shot a few seconds later, but this time one of the defenders blocked it. Lech's players began complaining to the referee since the maroons lit by the fans made the visibility really small. Eventually referee stopped the match to wait for the smoke to disappear, but it wasn't the first time that the arbiter's decision caused controversy.

Lechia's determination wasn't enough to pass their opponent's solid defense line and when the referee whistled for the last time, Lech's players could raise their hands in joy. There are only 4 points needed for Lech to enter the top 8.
