Linetty has returned to the squad after a period of absence caused by an injury. "This match was a valuable lesson," said the young midfielder after the match with FC Basel.
"We lost goals in ridiculous circumstances, especially the first two. The match would have ended differently if it wasn't for the chances we wasted at the very beginning. We lost 1:3, but we wont give up. We will travel to Basel in hope we can make our fans rejoice again," said Karol Linetty.
The appearance of the homegrown player against the Swiss Champions was unsure until the very last moment. "I am glad that I have recovered and that I was given a chance. I believe that I have used that chance, however I could have given more to the team," added the midfielder.
After the Wednesday Linetty praised the fans who gathered at INEA Stadium for the mid-week match. "We were playing at home. Thanks to the fans we are strong [when playing at INEA Stadium]," explained Linetty. "We knew we could have beaten Basel in the first half. It hurts that we lost the goals after long passes, not any extraordinary, beautiful team actions."
