A draw in the last sparring match

The last winter sparring game was played at a much different tempo than the first match held on Saturday. Hansa began the game well and their brave attempts resulted in good goal-scoring opportunities. However, the Germans lacked focus and calm in Lech’s penalty area. In the 20^th minute, Svante Ingellson came the closest to scoring when he received a good long ball and came one-on-one with Filip Bednarek. Unluckily for Hansa, the Swede lost control of the ball and, as a result, failed to fire a shot at Bednarek’s goal. The hosts responded with an offensive attempt of their own – Niki Kvekveskiri sent a dangerous cross into Hansa’s box, but the ball didn't hit the back of the net, and the first half finished in a goalless draw.

In the second half, Lech had more to say. The Polish side was more in control of the game and stopped Hansa from creating scoring chances. Unfortunately for Lech, they also struggled to surprise Hansa’s goalkeeper. The duo Tsitaishvili-Velde created a good goal-scoring opportunity when the Georgian player set up his Norwegian teammate with a great pass but Velde, despite receiving the ball, didn’t manage to get past the keeper. Shortly afterwards, Filip Szymczak fired a shot from outside the box, but his attempt was effortlessly stopped by Markus Kolke. Neither of the sides found a way to beat their opponent’s defensive line, hence the game finished in a tie.
