The national team camps are a logistic challenge for Lech’s training staff. Since Tuesday the team from Poznan has been missing a number of players on the training sessions.
9 footballers from the senior squad left Poznan and joined their teammates from national teams. Among them are the youngsters – Robert Gumny, Kamil Jozwiak, Jan Bednarek – but also Tamas Kadar and Paulus Arajuuri. The absence of the key players means that Lech is going to train with a small number of footballers for the next two weeks.
“The organization might have not been such a big problem if we missed a couple of footballers only. However, since the number of the absent players is big, it makes the job of the training staff more difficult. Most of the guys return to Poznan a few days before our next league clash, which gives them only a little time to rest,” said dr Martin Mayer, the fitness coach. “[Because of the groupings] we can train with the footballers individually and focus on improving personal skills,” explained the coach.
The team from Poznan is preparing for the final matches this year. There is only a month of games left until the Polish clubs leave for the winter break. The training sessions often concentrate on fitness. “Nevertheless, the ball is the main tool we use during the sessions. The footballers rarely leave the ball. There are a lot of aspects we have to work on, especially efficiency in goal scoring opportunity and finishing off offensive actions. We do not focus on the tactics because there are not enough present players to do it,” said the fitness coach.
