Lubomir Šatka has made yet another appearance for the Slovakian national team. The Friday match against Russia (0:1) was his 21st cap.
The qualifiers for next years’ World Cup in Qatar are slowly coming to an end. On Friday evening, the stadium in Kazan hosted a Group H qualifier between Russia and Slovakia who are ranked second and third respectively. In the previous clash between the two teams, Tarkovic’s squad beat Slovakia 2:1. If the latter managed to triumph in the second game, they would increase their chances of competing in the playoffs for the Qatar World Cup.
However, Slovakia failed to beat their Russian opponents - Milan Skriniar’s own goal decided about the final score. Lech’s defender Lubomir Šatka played the whole 90 minutes on Friday evening. It was his 21st cap and the 19th game which he played from start to finish.
After 7 matches, Slovakia is ranked 4th in Group H. They have collected 9 points so far – 7 less than Croatia and Russia who share the leader’s position. On Monday, at 8:45 pm, Slovakia will face the world vice-champions in Osijek.
