Lech Poznań continues to impress with their performances. The November international break did not throw Lech off rhythm and Niels Frederiksen’s players beat GKS Katowice 2:0. Mikael Ishak and Ali Gholizadeh scored the goals for Lech.
The match against GKS was Lech’s last home clash in 2024. In the previous league round, Frederiksen’s squad defeated Legia 5:2, however, that didn’t mean they could disregard their next opponent. The Ekstraklasa newcomers have performed well this season, especially in the offence.
Nonetheless, Lech Poznań highlighted their dominance early on in the game. In the 3rd minute, Mikael Ishak converted a good pass from Patrik Walemark into the opening goal. That didn’t stop the hosts from creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities in the following minutes. However, Afonso Sousa’s, Ali Gholizadeh’s, and Patrik Walemark’s attempts were ineffective.
The opening minutes of the second half were an equally impressive performance from Lech. In the 50th minute, Sousa was fouled inside the opponent’s box and the referee awarded the hosts with a penalty kick. However, Ishak’s shot bounced off the post, and he failed to convert the set piece into a second goal. Nonetheless, Lech eventually found a way to change the score – this time thanks to Gholizadeh whose precise shot was impossible for the keeper to save. Lech stayed in control of the match and held onto the score until the final whistle. As a result of the win, Lech increased their point advantage over Jagiellonia Białystok and Raków Częstochowa who failed to triumph in their matches.
